In the decade of jazzercise and cut off sweatshirts, the company Body Creations by Jazzmin was born. The first company to hand paint and airbrush on leotards, Jazzmin, owned and designed by Janis Kato, changed the workout world. With show rooms in major cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, the Jazzmin line was in department stores and shops across the nation. Jazzmin soon evolved into a Missy line with unconventional designs, fabrics, and treatments for a market lacking in style, innovation, and fit.
The idea for a new girls line came from owner and designer, Janis Kato. A graduate in Fine Arts and self-taught fashion designer, Janis has specialized in hand painting, dip-dyes,airbrushing, and screen printing for the past 25 years. She brought in Hazele Samson, a graduate from the University of California, Irvine in English and with a Professional Designation Fashion Degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles to design a youthful and fresh look. Together, the idea of a girls line that was special, unique, funky, and sweet inspired the two designers to create Nutmeg by Jazzmin, pieces that are as individual as every little girl.
Nutmeg by Jazzmin is a girls line that is a mixture of funky and sweet pieces. Luxury fabrics like velvet, cashmere, lace, and satin combined with sweet cotton crotchet trims, corduroy, camouflage and plaid prints create fierce designs for the Fall 2006 season.
